Happy Birthday to ... ME!

Okay Party People, Zack is not one to shy away from the spotlight. So yes it's my birthday and I'm happy to tell you all about that.

So far today I've had my mom sing me happy birthday and give me kisses. Received extra special liver treats. Had my sister Moomba bring me three balls; funny thing though is that they looked like the dirty balls that she plays with everyday but hey it's the though that counts right. And I have surveyed the front and back yard and taken a number of glorious naps.

So the day is off to a very good start!

Tonight I'm getting a special hamburger dinner and a lemonade ice pop. Perfect Birthday Dinner on a Hot Summer Day.

You may wonder what I say when asked how old I am. My snippy answer is 4.14 (that's 29 years old in dog years). But because I've aged so gracefully and you are my blog buddies I'll tell you the truth...12. Yup the Zack hits the big dozen today.

While a little slower on the tail chase, and maybe inclined to take an extra nap or two, I still have plenty of spring in this pup's step and plenty of bite as well.

My secret, wet food with my dry food, never stress (except when going to the Vet) and lots of playtime and walks. My body is my temple is my motto . Well except for last week when I tried to eat the worker's chicken bone, oh yeah and the time I rolled in horse manuer, oh and we shouldn't talk about the brownie incident. Okay well so maybe that's not my motto but I'm in good shape.

So happy birthday to me and to other famous people and pets born on this glorious day...July 26th!
  • Kate Beckinsale
  • Sandra Bullock
  • Mick Jagger
  • Karl Jung
  • Kevin Spacey
  • George Bernard Shaw
  • Dorothy Hamill
  • Antonio Machado
  • Aloha Airlines (turned 60 today but did not offer me a free ticket)

And the most important of all, my grandfather...James "Scotty" Tulloch

Famous Dogs

Wassup Paw Posse,

So I was staring at the red NetFlix envelope as I was dosing off into another wonderful Doggie Dream and I started to ponder Movies and Dogs.

Not a very difficult thing to ponder as dogs have always been a big part of Hollywood. But then I started thinking who were the most famous Dogs that graced the Silver Screen or the Plasma Screen and alas I have a new Zack List to share.

Most Famous Dogs of All Time (in no particular order)

  • Benji
  • Lassie
  • Old Yeller
  • Air Bud
  • Goofy
  • Rin Tin Tin
  • Scooby Doo
  • Snoopy
  • Underdog
  • Eddie from Frasier
  • Petey
  • Tinkerbell
  • Marmaduke

Campioni della tazza del mondo dell'Italia di congratulazioni !

I have to give a shout out to the soccer posse from Italy! Way to go ragazzi, I hope you had a few bottles of wine and some good pasta to celebrate.

My Mom blasted the Tarantella with your final goal and we all celebrated here.

Let me know if you are looking for a new talented player for the next World Cup. I'm ready!

Another Year

Hi Dog Posse,

So this weekend marks the birthday's of two Diva's I know...Elke and Annie so I first want to start with a special shout out to those Ladies with mucho birthday wishes!

The fine month of July should also be noted as the month of Zack. Yes fans this pup will turn another year older later this month (July 26 for those who want to send cards ;)).

So I started thinking about what would make up the ultimate birthday party for a dog. And thanks to my friends at Google (and yes I can say that because two of my friends used to work there eh hem) I found some pretty interesting ideas.

First off if you are serious about throwing your dog (or me) a party a pampered puppy website has a great article with lots of ideas.

Everything from the black collar type with crystal dog bowls (a personal favorite) to Backyard BBQ (Moomba's preference so she can showoff being an Aussie and yell put another rawhide on the Barbie).

Of course food is of prime importance at a proper party. Dog treats and water are nice but to do it up right you really should make something special. And if you are looking for ideas my cousin Joy Beagle can definitely help you out.

And for those pups that need to let a little energy out there are plenty of activities to set-up including ball catching contests, rent an agility course, bobbing for treats etc. Of course I will be curled up in a chaise lounge poolside dreaming of my birthday cake instead ;).

So whatever rocks your doggie's world it's easy to throw a bash that will be memorable not only to the canine of the day but to all those two legged creatures who attend the party as well.

So from this soon to be birthday boy to yours...Party On and Paws Out!

GDay Mate

It's Moomba here, Zack's first guest blogger (oh and sister but he hate's to admit that part). So one major difference between us siblings is my love for water. Zack views water only as the thing that goes in a elegant water dish and occassionally it can be scented to with some bath suds to make him smooth and clean.

Moomba at Raven Bear Ranch 2004

I on the other hand am from the Outback. A true Aussie girl who loves fun, adventure and the outdoors (no this is not a personals ad). When I was a mere 8 weeks old I got to hang out with my now best pals, a group of Labradors at Raven Bear Ranch. Raven Bear Ranch is true paradise for any dog. It's 10 acres with a pond (aka Lake for us pups), pool and bright shiny stars at night.

At Raven Bear Ranch you can run with the pack, chase your tail for miles, herd goats, play fetch for hours in the water or just lay under a bush or tree for a super sweet afternoon nap. It's heaven on earth for us dogs and even Zack can find a Zen state there.

The Raven Bear Ranch Bridge of Tranquility

Okay so before I get you all too excited about Raven Bear Ranch I should mention it's private property owned by my Aunts Dori and Jill. So for now unless you know them you'll have to live vicariously (I know big word for a pup) through me.

Now back to my story.

Pool time at Raven Bear Ranch

So when I was just a wee pup I learned how to swim there with the help of my friend Raven (yup one of the other dogs is named Bear) and I've been a water dog ever since. Which is pretty uncommon for an Aussie.

Dog Paddle Supreme

So for the past two years I've been BEGGING (yes we are good at that ) for a pool at my house. And I'm happy to say my day in the sun and pool has finally come.

We are in the process of converting our little backyard into a tropical paradise including pool, spa, BBQ island, an outdoor room on our deck and lots of awesome tropical plants. A slice of heaven for any dog.

Things of course are moving slower than I like but if you are interested in following the progress and can't wait until I convince Zack to let me write another blog entry then check out our backyard blog at http://balihastings.blogspot.com/.

Well time to go chase a ball...thanks Zack for letting me get a shout out!
