Life Lessons

Hi All,

It's me Zack here and it's been a while since I blogged.

I've had some real dog days the past few months (as well as some tail waggers). The worst part was that I lost my best friend and pack leader...my big brother Calvin back in December. He was the best big brother ever, he taught me the importance of the dog door (also known as the escape hatch amongst us adventurous pups), he let me steal his bones from time to time and acted like he didn't know where I buried them in the yard (though he did because they were never there when I went back to get them) and he taught me "The Yank". It's a move that Calvin invented and perfected. When you are cruising along on your walk and you catch a really good scent (I mean really good as you don't want to over use "The Yank", you firmly plant your paws in front of the much desired sniff object and as your dog walker (most often called "Mom" in our case) goes to pull you away you straighten your neck and pull back towards your sniff object with two forceful tugs. It often throws the dog walker off balance a bit and buys you an extra few seconds with your beloved scent du jour.

The new year brought my other brother/amigo Chauncey and I some good times after our hard loss. We spent many a days at Fort Fun hanging with our crew and our neighborhood walks have also increased. Speaking of the neighborhood walks we've had a number of recent incidents reported (often by me) of gang related cat activities. It seems the La Ferrel Cat Gang has it out for the kind calm natured canines in the hood and have been randomly attacking them as they unknowingly pass by or stand in their own hallway (yes I'm serious they are criminals and trespassers). It's a real urban problem that I plan to bring to the attention of our local Neighborhood Watch and Da Mayor. First it's cat violence in small neighborhoods and the next thing you know we'll have riots outside the dog shows. I won't stand for it!

Okay enough advocacy for one blog, on a light note my friend Chewy Gomez is working on his fourth album entitled Kennel of Love. Chewy is often noted for his Latino howls but he wants to try out his softer side every since he started dating JLa....Juanita the Lhapsa Apso. Check out the album on the Bone Fresh label.

Alright I need to dash and get ready for American Idol. Yes dogs love that show too but would it kill them to audition a few talented b@$%#$@s for a change.

Paws Out and Leash Love,

Zack
